About the Club
The Cawthra Seniors Golf Club originated in 2005 and became a non-profit golf club in the Mississauga community so that seniors could enjoy golf in a social environment. Jack Chivers is the gentleman who approached the Cawthra Community Centre with the idea, and after placing a small add in the Mississauga news, a group of about 20 golfers were ready to play their first 9-holes together. The interest in the club has grown steadily since then.
Today, the club has over 200 members, with an executive and a constitution. It runs both a 9-hole and 18-hole season with scheduled tee-times at several courses and has recently instituted a handicap system and friendly competitions. The members also celebrate the season with a year-end tournament at BraeBen Golf Course in Mississauga, followed by an immensely popular banquet.
Thank you, Jack, for your vision and efforts in founding a seniors’ golf club that provides fun and camaraderie for active men and women in the Mississauga community.
